This is a ridiculous use for tochnelogy, I'm a huge fan of tochnelogy and communication but this bothers me. My wife and I haven't started having kids yet but one of the things we look forward to when we do is going to see Santa. If the Eaton's centre starts doing this other malls might follow suit and that would be awful. This is going to take away from the childhood memories of thousands of kids and replace them with the cold view of a computer monitor. What are they planning on doing to make use of the space? More kiosks? They say they are trying to be inovative to help busy parents but this just sounds like another chance to make more money. If they want to offer the option of Skype then fine but don't take away the physical Santa!

I can't believe that Ms. Vlitas thikns she's convincing everyone she's changing 100 years of tradition for the benefit of parents and kids? Christmas is one of the only times of year that families enjoy celebrating old traditions and watching with joy the wonderment and innocence of children who still believe in Santa and wish lists. We all understand with Christmas comes long line ups at the mall while shopping, more congested traffic conditions and the long lines we stand in to give our kids a chance to sit with Santa and I'm good with that! I waited 2 hours in line at Square One last year to watch my granddaughter sit with excitement on Santa's lap and tell him her Christmas wishes ~ I would do that over and over again to see the huge smile on her face. Thank you for putting commercialism first and our children a distant last Eatons Centre well done, you should be so proud!
