I am a Canadian veteran of UNPROFOR in the Balkans. I have been a cenilt of VAC since 2007. I am a member of the Canadian Veteran's Advocacy and Veterans UN NATO Canada. I find it appauling that this sort of seemingly constant behaviour is allowed and continues. I personally was asked by the Minister of Veterans Affairs, in public, about a highly publicized automobile accident I had in 2000. This is a breach of my privacy. I have filed Access to Information and Privacy requests with the Department of National Defense, VAC, the RCMP and CSIS and I urge other Canadian veterans to do the same. It is high time for a public and oifficial investigation into VAC and the VRAB. I was almost charged and convicted of divulging information while on mission in Bosnia (which I didn't do) and almost sentenced to 50 years in military prison. The Commanding Officer that presided over my summary trial in Bosnia Herzegovina now sits as a member of the VRAB since March 2011. As a result, I received a letter from VRAB Chair Mr. John Larlee explaining that since Mr. Desjardins now sits on the Board, I may not meet with him, as I requested and suggested in a letter to Minister Blackburn in January 2011. Conflict of interest. I am not alone. There are plenty of Canadian veterans that fall victim to this system and the way it has been manipulated. It can no longer be tolerated.
